Bites Nearby: Welcome to the 'Good-Life'

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Scarsdale Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Good-Life Gourmet proves that a simple sandwich can be a delicious dining experience if the fillings are creative and the bread is fresh baked and fragrant.  Owned by Chef Eric Korn, this local eatery features gourmet-to-go offerings, juice blends, pastries, and home-cooked entrees that can be ordered and brought home for a “eat-in, take-out” experience.

Framed nature scenes add a sense of the expansive outdoors to this cozy, narrow bistro. Long stainless steel counters and white table stools make this the perfect place for you and a couple of co-workers to grab lunch, or for a few fitness buddies to indulge in a freshly squeezed juice blend after a class at Be True Yoga. WiFi will also soon be provided at Good-Life Gourmet, meaning that your high school student now has an alternative after-school project meeting spot that unlike their classmates’ Dorito-stocked, video game-laden dens, is high in nutrition and low in distractions.

The Drinks:

If your children refuse to eat vegetables or eat fruit, take them to Good-Life Gourmet for a fresh juice blend made with a Jack LaLanne power juicer. The “sweet greens juice” is a dull green yet surprisingly sweet concoction made from a combination of spinach, apple and pineapple— the perfect way for tots to Popeye’s health without lowing their taste buds to his standards.

Sandwiches:

Good-Life Gourmet is primarily an eat-in, take-out lunch spot, featuring sandwiches such as the “croque monsieur,” a satisfying combination of house-roasted ham, melted Swiss cheese and artisan white bread.  Another sweet-yet-savory combination is the fig and Brie panini, with a jam-like fruit filling that smothers soft cheese.

Entrees:

Good-Life Gourmet Meals offer the best of both worlds – a chance to enjoy a dinner at home with the family without the added burden of cooking for four. Chefs prepare dinners for pick-up that can be heated and served with minimal fuss… and maximum flavor. Entrees include offerings such as French Roasted Chicken with grilled asparagus, roasted potatoes and red wine sauce, or wild mushroom lasagna with roasted garlic and carrot sauce and a creamy goat cheese béchamel.

Desserts:

Freshly-baked muffins and cookies can be enjoyed with coffee, and homemade candies and biscotti made by local sweet manufacturers can be purchased for an after-dinner treat.

Service:

Sandwiches take about five to ten minutes, and juice blends are whipped up in even less time. Lines aren’t too long during lunch, but a steady stream of people trickle in and out of the establishment all day – proving that this newly-opened eatery is here to stay.

Signature Dish:

The Thanksgiving Sandwich, which featured roast turkey, herb stuffing and cranberry Dijon mustard on a French baguette, fuses together Good-Life Gourmet’s gourmet dinners and sandwiches into one unique, delicious combination.
