Scarsdale Police Arrest Two On ID Theft, Grand Larceny Charges

SPD arrested a Bronx man and a Mount Vernon woman yesterday on charges of identity theft and grand larceny, after the two attempted to fraudulently withdraw money from a Chase Bank in Scarsdale. 

At about 1:42 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, the Chase Bank at 54 East Parkway alerted police that "a suspect from a previous attempted larceny at another Chase branch was in the bank attempting to withdraw funds," Det. Lt. Thomas Altizio said in a press release today.

"Patrol units, aware of the suspect and vehicle description from the previous
bank larceny attempt, responded to the scene, stopped the suspect’s vehicle and investigated the incident," Altizio stated.

Police arrested Fern M. Davis, 47, of Mount Vernon. She was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd (D felony); Attempted ID Theft 1st (E felony); Attempted Grand Larceny 4th (A misdemeanor); Unlawful Possession of Personal ID Information 3rd (A misdemeanor); and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd (A misdemeanor.)

Scarsdael Police also charged Davis with Attempted Identity Theft 1st (E felony); Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd (E felony); and Unlawful Possession of Personal ID Information "for her actions at the Chase Bank at 20 Palmer Avenue on May 24," Altizio said.

"Additional charges are expected to be lodged against Ms. Davis," he said.

Police charged Shannon Burley, 31, of the Bronx, with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd (D felony); Attempted ID Theft 1st (E felony); Attempted Grand Larceny 4th (a misdemeanor); two counts of Unlawful Possession of Personal ID Information 3rd (A misdemeanor); and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd (A misdemeanor.)

Burley and Davis were arraigned in Scarsdale Village court. Both were remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $75,000 bail each, according to Altizio.

The investigation is ongoing, he noted, and the SPD are working with Suffolk County detectives, investigators from JP Morgan Chase and the Security Division of the FBI on the case.
