Scarsdale Police Respond To Several Reports of ID Theft

Excerpts from the Scarsdale Police Log. The following information was supplied by the Scarsdale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

In the past week, the responded to three different cases of alleged identity theft. Two involved credit cards and one involved a cell phone account.

The stolen identify of a Scarsdale woman led to a $2,500 spending spree for one alleged theft.

A resident of Wildwood Road told police that someone opened three store credit cards in her name. The stores are all located in Green Acres Mall. The cards were opened at Khol’s, Victoria’s Secret and Lane Bryant and all used to the maximum credit limit, according to a police report. The resident was able to cancel the cards and notify the stores’ fraud departments, according to the report.

March 29, 12:18 p.m.

A Scarsdale resident filed a complaint of identity theft after her daughter’s debit card had allegedly been swiped. The thief racked up $1,118.71 on the Master Card. There were 18 fraudulent charges on the Chase card, according to the police report. Police are investigating.

March 30, 7:52 p.m.

Police responded to a report of identity theft on Lyons Road. The resident reported someone had tried to open a T-Mobile account in her name. She had also had fraudulent charges on her credit card two months ago. The T-Mobile fraud department is investigating.
