Scarsdale's Fireworks Display A Hit

The Village of Scarsdale held s its annual fireworks display on July 3.

The in celebration of Independence Day last night at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex. Members and nonmembers enjoyed the show.

At 7 p.m., the grounds were packed with people and so were the pools, with patrons trying to escape the heat of the muggy July weather and secure their spot for the event later on that night. The event included a DJ next to the concession stand and a booth selling light up swords and glow sticks. The children danced to the music and waved their swords in delight.  Families had blankets spread out on the grass, with coolers of food. They settled in and waited for the sky to darken.

The crowds got thicker as people began to arrive specifically for the fireworks, and the lifeguards cleared the pool at 8:45 p.m. Scarsdale EMS and Fire were also on hand.

With the pool emptied, there was barely any grass for folks to sit on. The light-up toys were turned on, glowing brightly in the darkness. At 9:20 p.m., the fireworks began, just beyond the large trees at the back side of the pool. They seemed to explode above the audience's heads, lighting up the night sky and giving everyone the best seat in the house.
