Steiner Sisters Bring Beauty, Wellness to Scarsdale

Jessica and Julianne Steiner work together every day but they barely have a chance to talk. That is a good sign that business is booming for the two Hartsdale natives.

Despite working out of adjacent rooms, the constant stream of clients keep them busy, although the two do not advertise.

"I don't advertise," Jessica said. "It's all word of mouth."

With over 100 clients, the 37-year-old has been operating in Scarsdale for the past 10 and a half years.

"It's a helpful way to approach the body in a holistic way," the licensed massage therapist said.

Jessica, who is studying to become a registered nurse, has been a massage therapist for the past 12 years and offers deep tissue, therapeutic massage to clients of all ages.

She has teens and seniors, all in need of some stress reduction.

"There's so much benefit to massage," Jessica said, including increased circulation, de-stressing and helping with illnesses and aches.

After working as a massage therapist at other locations, a client inspired her to open her own business.

"It was the best thing I ever did in my life," she said. "I'm the luckiest person to have this career."

Next door, sister Julianne is just as busy with her own skin care clients.

She opened her business in 2004 and has been working next to her sister ever since.

The 35-year-old licensed esthetician serves over 100 clients who come to her for facials, waxing, make-up lessons and laser hair removal.

"I look at the body as a whole," Julianne said. "It's not just the face, it's a treatment."

Julianne incorporates reflexology, hot stones and massage into her treatments.

The Hartsdale native said what makes her skin care services stand out is that the client deals with her directly, from the time he/she makes the appointment until the end of the treatment.

"I care about each client that walks through the door," she said. "What their needs are is what is most important."

Like her sister, Julianne said she feels "blessed" to be doing what she loves.

"You have to have passion for what you do and I do," she said.

Over the years, she's served clients from teens to moms to seniors to folks battling cancer.

"You start to get to know people and they become part of your life," Julianne said. "I have a lot of wonderful clients."
