Scarsdale Today: Plays; Concerts; Mother Goose

  • Tonight The Westchester Band’s free outdoor concerts in Chase Park, Scarsdale Village will be celebrating its 44th season. The concert will begin at 8 p.m., and audiences are welcome to bring lawnchairs, blankets, and picnic diners. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Scarsdale High School Auditiorium. The family oritented music ranges from pop to opera, with generous portions of light classics, show tunes, jazz, Dixie and big band.

 

  • The Breakfast Players acting troupe is putting on a performance of Hamlet tonight at 6 p.m. at the Thelma Zimmer and William van Dorth Youth and Community Center. The play is being shown in memory and in honor of beloved English teacher at Ardsley High School, Rob Baird, who recently died from pancreatic cancer. After production costs, the profits from the show will be going to pancreatic cancer research. Tickets cost ten dollars.   • SUNY Purchase is hosting a free jazz concert tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Husband and wife duo, two time Grammy nominee Bill Charlap, and world renowned pianist Renne Rosnes will present an evening of duets featuring standards from the American song book and more. The performance will take place in the Purchase College Performing Arts Center.

 

  • The Scarsdale Public Library will be holding its Mother Goose Walkers event for children up to the age of 2 years old this morning at 10:30 am. The free event will include songs, rhymes and books.

  • Head over to The Playgroup Theater tonight at 7 p.m. to see a performance of the musical, “Working.” The theater is located at 1 North Broadway, Suite 111, White Plains. General admission tickets will cost $15, and seniors and children under 12 will get in for $12. The musical features a collection of real interviews illustrating the extraordinary dreams of ordinary people.
