The Three Biggest Makeup Myths Revealed

Professional Makeup Artist & Founder of Alexa Persico Cosmetics reveals the 3 biggest makeup myths ALL women should know before buying makeup.

Ladies you are going to want to read this!

Being a Makeup Arist and working with woman everyday, I cant begin to tell you how many times I've heard "makeup tips" that have caused me to blurt out a "What? Who in the world told you that!" This is my first time posting a Beauty Blog for Patch.com and starting off, I knew I wanted to address the 3 most common Makeup Myths all women should know. So Let’s get started!

1. Red lipstick does not suit everyone.

That's false. Anyone can wear red lipstick, they just need to find the right red for them. Personally I think the best red is a one with a blue undertone because it really accentuates the natural undertones in your cheeks. If you are looking for a blue toned red try one of our best selling shades: "Camille."

2. Only use an undereye concealer with yellow undertones to hide undereye circles.

Now this is true for some women if your skin already has yellow undertones, but it shouldn't be used by everyone. Find the concealer that looks best with your skin–always go a shade lighter than your natural skin tone, then dab it onto the dark circles of your under-eyes. For a little extra brightness, dab a bit of concealer onto the inside corners of your eyes and the bridge of your nose to look more awake.

3. Makeup causes pimples.

Well here is the truth, Makeup does not cause pimples–poor hygiene does. Always remember to CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES! Dirty Brushes/Sweaty Sponges breed bacteria. Wash and dry them thoroughly at least 2 times a week. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, take off all your makeup before going to bed. Washing your face every night before bed, exfoliating and moisturizing is key. When you sleep is when your skin does all its homework. Also keep skin hydrated inside and out by drinking lots of water. If drinking water becomes too boring try Green Tea Lemon Water with Cinnamon & Honey to sip on through out the day. You will be amazed at how great the combination of those 4 ingredients is for your skin.
