Tired of paying Westchester or Putnam’s high oil prices? You’re far from alone. Many homeowners in our area are paying less than you are. And they’re ready to share their secret.
Consumers Energy Cooperative, (CECI), a Westchester based member owned corporation, has been successfully negotiating low cost home heating oil and professional burner service to its members for more than 30 years.
Organized in 1981 as an outgrowth of the Pace University Academic Federal Credit Union, the organization has added other sponsoring organizations and individuals over the years, and now has a membership of approximately 2000.
Last year, an average member using 1200 gallons of fuel saved a minimum of $400 in heating oil costs.
“Oil prices have been climbing steadily – and are expected to rise even higher,” explained Glen Johnson, President of CECI. “Even during a mild winter people are complaining about the price of heating their homes. If they join our cooperative for just $20 a year we can lower their prices without sacrificing top-notch service.”
In order to reach new members, CECI Oil has established a Facebook page and a Twitter feed. They are hopeful that social media will enable them to reach a broader segment of the population in Putnam and Westchester.
CECI Oil’s service is available to residential oil users in Westchester and southern Putnam counties. In addition to home heating oil delivery, CECI Oil also offers all its members full service contracts, which includes an annual burner cleaning.
Membership is a low $20 annually. Members can opt for automatic deliveries, or call to arrange a delivery five days in advance. A variety of convenient payment options are available. CECI also offers a referral bonus of $100 to members who refer friends and neighbors who become new members. And new homeowners who become members also enjoy a $100 credit on their oil bill.
