The Compromised Land: Recent Photography and Video from Israel

A fascinating new exhibition, The Compromised Land: Recent Photography and Video from Israel, organized by the Neuberger Museum of Art of Purchase College, confronts many of Israel’s issues head on.  Exploring the themes of coexistence and conflict, history and memory, and the importance of land, the work of twenty-one contemporary artists will be on view in this exhibition from August 11– December 1, 2013. The following events take place in conjunction with the exhibition:

Gannit Ankori, a scholar of Israeli and Palestinian art and Professor of Fine Arts at Brandeis University, will address the themes and works of art in the exhibition The Compromised Land: Recent Photography and Video from Israel on view through December 1, 2013. Free with Museum admission.

Neu Words: Artists and Curators in Conversation
One's relationship with the land is a central theme in the The Compromised Land: Recent Photography and Video from Israel, on view at the Museum through December 1, 2013. Two of the artists - Dana Levy and Gilad Ratman - whose works are featured in the exhibition, will join exhibition co-curators Helaine Posner and Lilly Wei in a lively conversation about how they expressed this theme, but in very different ways.
