5 Things: Barbers, Bloomie's and Blues Brothers

Ideas for five fun things to do this weekend.

1. Make an appointment with the this weekend by taking in a showing of “Sweeney Todd” at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. The musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim mixes intense, macabre drama and dark humor. Shows at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets $20 for adults, $14 for seniors and students.

2. Prep for the prom at in White Plains Saturday. The special event features Seventeen Magazine experts that will help you find the perfect dress, accessories and beauty products. You'll also get 20% off your prom dress purchase, and an opportunity to give back by donating old prom dresses to Operation Prom. At the Bloomingdale’s at 175 Bloomingdale Rd., White Plains; Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Acoustic folk duo performs Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ossining Public Library. The Simon & Garfunkel Songbook features Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman’s harmonious interpretations of classics such as “Mrs. Robinson,” “Cecelia,” “The Sound of Silence” and “The Boxer,” interwoven with colorful anecdotes of the 1960s and 1970s with Pete Fornatale, radio host of Mixed Bag on WFUV and XM Radio. The concert is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.

4. hosts a family concert to benefit the Sharing Shelf, a non-profit that provides clothing to needy kids. On Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Temple Israel of New Rochelle. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

5. Catch a free screening of the classic movie, “,” at the Emelin Theatre for the Performing Arts in Mamaroneck on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
