Adventure Rabbi Combined Service and Hiking in Scarsdale

Rabbi Jamie Korngold visited the Westchester Reform Temple this past weekend.

By Felicia Block

Families from the (WRT) in Scarsdale spent their morning beyond the walls of the synagogue. The members took part in a hike and service with Adventure Rabbi Jamie Korngold on Saturday, May 5.

Rabbi Korngold, raised in Edgemont, led the group on a 90-minute excursion at Rockefeller State Park Preserve where they gathered, sang and read Torah with nature as their backdrop.

The hike concluded the Eco-Shabbat during which Rabbi Korngold read her recent PJ Library® book to WRT’s Early Childhood Center students and delivered a Friday night sermon to the congregation.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
