Beyonce and Jay-Z Scarsdale Rumors: True or False?

Clearing up the rumors spread by Global Grind, Perez Hilton and other celebrity gossip sites claiming hip-hop's golden couple relocated from Manhattan to the 10583 area.

Ever since Beyonce and Jay-Z swung by Scarsdale's Village Hall three years ago to receive their marriage license, rumors have swirled throughout the celebrity blogosphere claiming the Grammy-winning duo had purchased a 15,000-square foot mansion on 15 Heathcote Road.

The gossip faded after Village residents failed to hear reports of a velvet sweatsuit-clad Beyonce walking a dog through Chase Park or catch a glimpse of the couple sipping wine in a dark corner at Chat Bistro. But the birth of baby Blue Ivy Carter on Jan. 7 caused reignited speculation, with sites including Russell Simmons' Global Grind and PerezHilton stating that the new family had abandoned the big city for the 'burbs.

Will Baby Blue matriculate with Heathcote Elementary School's kindergarten class in five years?

"It's definitely only a rumor," said Rose Marinaccio, a manager and associate broker at Real Living Five Corner. "The house on the corner of Sherbrooke and Heathcote roads, which is stone and completely visible from the street, is the one most people thought was theirs. I can assure you that it is not. That house was actually built by a couple who sold their house in Mt. Kisco and bought this property."

Marinaccio dispelled the couple's other rumored roost, stating that it belonged to a founder of a very popular and well-known website. "The other rumor is that 10A Heathcote, which is not visible from the street, is theirs. It is not."

Hip-hop heads may be disappointed that they won't get the chance to tee off with Jay-Z at Saxon Woods Golf Course or belly dance with Beyonce at Equinox, but hey -- Scarsdale has already served as hometown to Yoko Ono and Rupert Holmes, as well as the setting for a John Updike poem. Why would the Village need any more big city limelight when it already has star power in spades?
