Change In Tonight's Greenburgh Nature Center Program

The Highlights from the 2012 Bioneers is postponed until April, but the Introduction to Transition Towns will be held in its place tonight at 7:00 p.m. The event is free.

The Highlights from the 2012 Bioneers program originally scheduled for tonight, Wed., Jan. 9, at the Greenburgh Nature Center will be postponed to Wed. April 10, 2013.

However, the Introduction to Transition Towns program is being held at 7:00 p.m. tonight instead. There will be a film and a discussion of the global movement offering ideas, inspiration and tools to help concerned citizens build happier, healthier and more sustainable communities.

Westchester Transition Town Core Team Members, MJ Wilson and Pauline Schneider will provide a brief overview of the TT movement and show the new movie, “Transition 2.0,” which portrays communities from different countries and how they used TT methods to transform their community. Following the one-hour film, there will be discussion and Q & A. Discussion will include possibilities for applying some of the ideas learned locally.

This event is in partnership with the Sierra Club, Lower Hudson Group. The program is designed for adults and high school students and is free to the public.

The Nature Center is located at 99 Dromore Road, off Central Park Avenue, in Scarsdale. Parking is free and handicapped parking is available. The Nature Center’s grounds are open daily dawn to dusk throughout the year. If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
