Families Enjoy Carnival Tradition at Scarsdale Municipal Pool

Residents dive into their Fourth of July celebration at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool.

Scarsdale residents beat the heat this holiday weekend at the annual Fourth of July Carnival Day, held at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool on Mamaroneck Road.

With one of the hottest holiday weekends in recent years, the parking lot was filled to capacity by the time the festivities began at 11 a.m.  All four pools inside the complex were just as packed with residents looking to cool off and enjoy the beautiful weather.

The day featured an inflatable castle and slide, a series of swim races, face painting, and a visit from Elmo, Blues Clues, and Uncle Sam.

This year featured some changes in the pools' traditional Fourth of July weekend schedule, as fireworks were displayed on Friday, July 2 rather than the same day as the carnival.

"We usually have the festivities in the afternoon and the fireworks at night," explained Kathy Laoutaris, pool co-manager. "This is the first time we've done them on two separate nights, but we're having a great turnout."
