Five Things You Need to Know Today

School cancellations, slippery roads, snow scuptures, Scandinavian stoicism and Stefan Doyno's latest food review!

1. Scarsdale and Greenburgh public schools have a two-hour delay this morning, and Edgemont schools are closed . The National Weather Service called for an 80 percent chance of snow last night, along with snow and freezing rain this morning. Ice accumulation might add up to less than .01 of an inch, and one to two inches of snow are expected to dust Scarsdale by early evening. Make sure to drive slowly, avoid slippery bridges and overpasses and check back with Scarsdale Patch for more winter weather updates!

2. Does the cold hinder you from fulfilling your New Years fitness resolutions? Well, the Norwegians have a saying – “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” If your inner Scandinavian is raring to pound the icy pavement, bundle up in your warmest hat, leggings and socks, slip on your sneakers and join The Running Company! The Running Company meets on Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays at 52 Pondfield Road, Bronxille, to guide novice and experienced runners alike in a group run complete with fitness advice, stretching and warm-up instruction and a sweat session bound to thaw even the coldest fingers and toes.

 3. Scarsdale’s latest culinary addition, Massa’, celebrated its grand opening with a public reception last Thursday evening. While Massa’ is not accepting reservations until Wednesday, Jan. 26., you can read up on the gourmet restaurant’s gastronomical delights by checking out food reviewer Stefan Doyno’s initial impressions later this afternoon!
