The Holiday Season Has Arrived in Scarsdale

A round-up of winter activities taking place in the area this week.

December has arrived, and Scarsdale's feeling festive this week, hosting a variety of holiday activities ranging from late-night present shopping extravaganzas to breakfasts with Santa:

1. Who needs the United States Postal Service when Santa will be arriving in Scarsdale himself to pick up childrens' christmas lists? Hand-deliver letters to Santa by stopping by his personal mailboxes, located at Chase Bank (East Parkway), Post Office, Village Hall and Heathcote Deli. The deadline for submitting letters is Friday, Dec. 16. For more information, visit the Recreation Department's website

2. Downtown Village merchants will be extending their hours until 8:30 p.m.  this Thursday night to host late-night holiday shoppers. Slip away while your spouse or baby-sitter is watching the kids and perform a secret night of present-buying for the whole family.

4. The Greenville Church Nursery School will host a holiday sale this Friday from 9-11:30 a.m. Support local vendors and artisans, whose offerings include vintage jewelry, accessories, paintings, crafts, toy stocking stuffers and baked goods. 15 percent of all sales will go to the Nursery School.
