Five Things You Need to Know Today: Critters and Crafts, Planning Board Meetings and This Week's Whiz Kid

Greenburgh Nature Center will hold a "Critters and Crafts" activity this morning for parents and children, the Planning Board will discuss a Special Use Permit for Patisserie Salzberg and this week's "Whiz Kid" will be unveiled at 2 p.m.

1. Indulge in some R&R by enjoyin some “C&C”— “critters and crafts” – at the Greenburgh Nature Center this morning. The Center promises an hour of “nature center” for children ages ½ to 5 years old, including walks, live animals, stories and projects. The program runs from 10 to 11 a.m. Members pay $5 for adults and $4 for children, and non-members pay $9 per adult and $7 per child. No pre-registration is required, but program admittance does shut down 15 minutes after the hour begins. Call (914) 723-3470 for more information.

2. Steal an hour during your lunch break and visit the (pun intended) Art Sandwiched In gallery at Purchase’s Neuberger Museum of Art. Featuring the work of R.H. Quaytman, a docent will lead a guided gallery talk of the exhibit “Spine, Chapter 20.” The talk will begin at 12 p.m., and is free with museum admission. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and free for children 12 and under. Visit the gallery’s website, or call (914) 251-6100.

3. Looks like Scarsdale Village might be getting a new business on 1 Christie Place! The Planning Board will be meeting tonight at 8 p.m.  to discuss a Special Use Permit for a proposed retail tenant, Patisserie Salzberg.

4. The Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce will be holding a general membership meeting tonight at the HSBC Bank on 34 Popham Road. Arrive at 6:15 p.m. to find out what’s going on with downtown Village parking, the Popham Road bridge and the local economic report… and to enjoy some refreshments, of course!

5. Check out this week’s latest installment of our new weekly feature, “Whiz Kids.” This week’s profile examines the career a budding musician. He’s performed at Carnegie Hall, he’s sung Russian solos and he’ll be walking onstage at Lincoln Center this upcoming spring. Oh, did we mention he’s only 12?
