Five Things You Need to Know Today: Housing Settlements and Hollywood Stars

It's halfway towards the weekend, but that doesn't mean you need to succumb to the mid-week doldrums just yet.

1. While New York City may have the bright lights, Westchester County has lately played host to the bright stars. Yesterday, Roseanne Cash spoke at the Rye Public Library, and next Thursday evening, hometown hero Aaron Sorkin is revisiting his roots by hitting the Scarsdale High School auditorium stage. The SHS Drama Club will present “An Evening with Academy Award Winner Aaron Sorkin” at 7 p.m.,” and attendees will be treated to film clips, discussion and a Q&A with the evening’s guest of honor. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors/students. Contact Justine Gelfman at jgelf1098@aol.com, Sophie Nobler at sophienobler@verizon.net or Adrienne Meyer at adrienne47meyer@gmail.com for more information.

2.  Speaking of bright stars, another shining supernova will be passing through Pleasantville tonight at the Jacob Burns Film Center. Peter Bart, the former executive at Paramount Pictures and editor-in-chief of “Variety,” will be giving a lecture at 7:30 p.m. discussing his role developing the cult romantic classic “Harold and Maude.” Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Visit the Center’s website for more information.

3. At 8 p.m., the Planning Board will meet in Village Hall to consider a potential amendment to the zoning ordinance regarding the provision of Fair and Affordable Housing. Feel free to attend if you wish to receive an update on the county-wide lawsuit and how it might directly affect your local surroundings.

Stop by from 3-5 to view Krutick's works, which include dreamy, surreal washes of color and bold, expressionist hues. The Manor Club is located on 1023 Esplanade, Pelham. For more information on Krutick’s paintings, visit her website or call (914) 522-0420.

5. This week in Scarsdale, cars were vandalized, mischievous youths roamed the streets and tenants engaged in disputes with their landlords. Find out more about what's going on with the Village's finest when we publish our weekly police blotter later this afternoon!
