Find out the FBI's 2010 crime statistics for Scarsdale, meet Westchester Reform Temple's newest Senior Rabbi and sign your child up for yoga classes at Hartsdale's newest studio.

1. The FBI has released its latest statistics on local crime for 2010, and Scarsdale continues to remain one of the safer villages in Westchester County — only 5 violent crimes, 2 robberies, 3 aggravated assaults and 215 property crimes were reported last year by residents. Find out how Scarsdale compares to other towns by checking out the FBI's data for the rest of New York state.

2. Your kids might be too young to own a dog, but they're never too young to do downward dog — or at least that's what Hartsdale's The Yoga Station might say. The Yoga Station, which opened last month, started children's classes on Monday. Everyone from toddlers to teens can learn how to find both flexibility and enlightenment through a combination of stretching, breathing and relaxation exercise. The Yoga Station is located on 221 East Hartsdale Ave. For more information, call 914-874-6295 or visit the center's website.

3. Mazel Tov to Jonathan E. Blake, Westchester Reform Temple's new Senior Rabbi! Yesterday, WTR announced Blake's congregational approval, affirming an unanimous recommendation by the Rabbinic Search Committee and the Board of Trustees. Rabbi Blake will succeed Rabbi Richard Jacobs, who will be leaving WRT next year to serve as the Union for Reform Judaism's president.

4. Before you hear the pounding of hammers and the droning of drills emanating from your neighbor’s half-constructed sunroom, take it into consideration that the Planning Board has already reviewed the blueprints, discussed the plans with the site’s owners and determined how the new room’s appearance will fit the surrounding neighborhood’s architectural aesthetic. Tonight, witness the Planning Board in action when they meet in Village Hall at 8 p.m. to discuss wetlands permits, home additions and permission for New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC to modify an existing wireless telecommunications facility by installing three new panel antennas and related ground equipment at the Village-owned Freightway Garage.

5. Can’t wait til Saturday for the farmers to bring their fresh, locally-groen goods to our neighborhood? Consider heading over the White Plains  today anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m to stock up on rapidly-dwindling summer fruits and vegetables and start thinking ahead towards planning your favorite fall soups and sandwiches.
