Free Summer Concerts by The Westchester Band in Chase Park

The Westchester Band played a free concert in Chase Park on Thursday night.

Celebrating their 41st anniversary playing in Scarsdale, The Westchester Band performed their second concert last evening in Chase Park.

The Westchester Band is conducted by Alan Hollander, a professional musician since the age of eighteen. He has also conducted the American Wind Ensemble, Larchmont Symphony, and Westchester Pops. Mr. Hollander is also an adjunct professor of Oboe and Music Education for Lehman College, and the Band Director.

The free concerts will continue through August 5th. Last night's show included a performance by Hudson Voices, a 12-voice ensemble. Featured songs included Memories and Phantom of the Opera.

Each concert features a range of music from popular to opera, including well-known classics, show tunes, concert marches and the game "Name That Tune," where an attendant who guesses the correct song will win a prize.

There are five concerts which still remain this season, and each will take place Thursday evening at 8 p.m. It is recommended that attendees bring lawn chairs, drinks and food.

Concert-goers at last night's event relished making this a family affair. Many occupied the picnic tables, taking advantage of the convenience and setting. People also laid out blankets and enjoyed a classic style picnic.

In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to Edgemont High School.
