The “Grab & Go Kids Planner” appears every Wednesday, just in time for you to take a brief mid-week breather and start thinking ahead towards the upcoming weekend. The planner will include local, low-cost activities, along with the occasional far-flung, pricier, but oh-so-worth it city sojourn.

Why Go: Puppeteer Jill Liflander and her fuzzy, hand-sized friends will sing, dance and educate children about water conservation.

When: Saturday, March 26, 2 p.m.

Why Go: DreamWorks flick Megamind chronicles the journey of an evil genius who’s forced to use his brilliance for the power of good.

Where: Temple Israel of New Rochelle, 1000 Pinebrook Boulevard, New Rochelle

When: Sunday, March 27, 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Lou Del Bianco’s performance will benefit The Sharing Shelf of Family Services of Westchester.

Pricing: $12 in advance, $15 at the door

Where: New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle (Huguenot Children's Library)

When: Saturday, March 26, 12:30 – 2 p.m.

Why Go: High school students will entertain your children with science experiments and demonstrations. Just because your son or daughter didn’t grow up with “Bill Nye the Science Guy” doesn’t mean that they still can’t think that “science rules.”

Where: 2900 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY 10458 (The Botanical Gardens)

When: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. 

Why Go: It's spring, the orchids are out and the Bronx Zoo's Botanical Gardens are some of the most famous in North America.
