Hudson Valley Residents Hoping To Win Big In Tonight's Lotto Jackpot

Folks across Hudson Valley and the country flocked to their closest convenience stores today to . From Scarsdale to Katonah to White Plains, people are feeling lucky.

From first-time dreamers to daily lotto players, the customers are still picking up their Mega Millions tickets across the country–making the jackpot jump from $540 to $640 million this afternoon.

"Wouldn't that be fun, giving away tons of money? Like Oprah," Tricia Freeman of Katonah said.

There is still time to pick up those tickets. The deadline to buy a Mega Millions ticket is 10:45 p.m. tonight. The drawing is being held at 11:00 p.m. tonight.

The game was jointly created in 2002 by the states of New York, Ohio, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia and is now played in 42 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to its website. Jackpots start at 12 million.
