Learning Musically in Scarsdale

When it comes to children and music, practically no one in Scarsdale knows more than Jackie Freimor. The director of Scarsdale's own Over the Moon Music and More is continually looking for new and innovative ways to educate children when it comes to music. Freimor just got back from an international conference which brought together experts and others who are connected with the Music Together music and movement program.

“This was an incredible conference rich in information about the most updated research and strategies in early childhood education. I now have even more tools to educate local parents about how to create a musical home life for their children," said Freimor.

Music Together is a program for newborns to kindergartners. The program started back in 1987. Now, it's offered in 1,700 communities here in the U.S. and 28 other countries. The philosophy of the program centers around the importance of parents and caregivers taking part in classed with their children. From the beginning, program organizers have believed that kids can learn from any adult, but they learn dispositions only from their loved ones, by taking part in activities together.

"Music Together is like no other program in Westchester, and I am proud to serve the community and help parents and their young children bond through music and movement,” says Freimor.

The Music Together international conference was held in Princeton and was attended by individuals from Switzerland, Croatia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, China, Canada and the United States.
