Westchester Children Ring in the New Year at New Roc City

Children from around the Sound Shore got to ring in the New Year early Tuesday at the fourth annual Ring in the New Year at Noon at New Roc City.

Sponsored by CB Richard Ellis and held in association with the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District and its BID Family Day event series, the celebration gave families the opportunity to experience the New Year without staying up until midnight, said Fred Bruck of Harquin creative group, the event organizer.

"It's a great community lifter," he said. "It's a great activity for families on New Year's Eve."

They also received a gift card for rides at Funfusion.

The event was also the final one of New Rochelle's 325th anniversary year.

Marianne Sussman, chairwoman of the 325th Anniversary Committee, said that the year was an eventful one, with a gala, a street fair, a day of kite flying and much more.
