New Scarsdale Food & Wine Festival This Weekend

The Scarsdale community will come together to enjoy a brand new outdoor, culinary event. It's called the SoWe Food & Wine Festival. The event, which will be held on Sunday, is being organized by Rich Baumer and his company, Baumer Ventures & Imagine Party & Events. Baumer has lived in Scarsdale for 15 years with his wife and three children.
"My middle daughter is a trained chef, and is intricately involved in producing this event, along with a dozen Scarsdale & local interns, all gaining valuable experience producing a large scale event," says Baumer.

Baumer says he's working hand-in-hand with the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce to pull off the event.

“We are excited to sponsor the SoWe Food and Wine Festival," said Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce President Carolyn Stevens. "We look forward to a first class event that shows off the wonderful array of food and wine in Scarsdale and all of Southern Westchester.”

The event will be home to wine, beer, gourmet food samplings from Westchester's top restaurants, caterers and bakeries. There will also be celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, book signings, product displays, live music and children's activities.

"One of my daughters, Casey, graduated from Culinary school and interned at The Food Network, while I was involved with live rock concerts," says Baumer. "Chefs have become today’s rock stars while the culinary world has exploded in our culture. After meeting with the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce, local merchants, restaurants, chefs, charitable causes, and enthusiastic foodies in our community, I realized a well executed, upscale event  in our Village would be a giant, fun party, and could help a lot of people at the same time."

The festival will take place on Chase Road, Spencer Place, Harwood Court and Boniface Circle. And tents will cover the entire event in case it rains.

"Southern Westchester has become quite a popular destinations for top-quality restaurants and incredibly talented chefs," says Baumer. "The county also has people in need being served by some wonderful philanthropic programs, helping to solve complex problems. The festival highlights some of the best food and wine our county has to offer, while raising awareness and funds for some very worthy causes. Our goal is for the SoWe F&WF to bring the community closer while sharing the collective strength of its caring, talented residents . We also reach out to new homeowners and make sure they have an opportunity to explore their new neighborhoods, friends, resources, local services, etc. while enjoying a very festive atmosphere."
