Popham & Garth Road Verizon Repairs

Repairs to an underground Verizon cable continue to cause traffic problems at the intersection of Popham & Garth Road in Scarsdale. The cable was damaged by the torrential rains we had last Thursday.

"That's a copper cable — water got into the cable. Water and copper cables just don't mix," said Verizon Spokesperson John Bonomo. "So we've been there since last Thursday night."

Verizon hopes to have the cable fixed by Tuesday night.

"We've got about 400 customers that are on that cable," said Bonomo. "That does not mean that all of them are affected — some could be — some possibly are not. And actually, as we repair it, any customers that are affected will come back into service or their static disappears."

At this time, Verizon says some customers get incoming calls, but can not make outgoing calls as the repairs continue.
