Responses Planned To Israel Train Station Ads

StandWithUs plans 75 response ads starting July 30.

A pro-Israel group is responding to a series of s that show geographical changes to the country over time.

StandWithUs will run 75 ads at train stations, with a series of posters that highlight either the country's accomplishments or past examples of Palestinians rejecting compromises. The ads are set to run on July 30.

Jennifer Kutner, who is director of media relations for the group, wrote that they will include the New Rochelle, Chappaqua and Mount Kisco train stations, which were among those called the Committee for Peace in Israel and Palestine.

“If the facts are inflammatory, then they are inflammatory,” said Henry Clifford, who chairs the group, told The Journal News recently. “All of the Middle East is infected with the virus of the Arab-Israeli conflict. People need to know the truth of the matter.”

“Anti-Israel activists continuously try to undermine American support for Israel with campaigns that misrepresent Israel and its history. The anti-Israel ads are a shocking distortion of history," said Roz Rothstein, the CEO of StandWithUs, in a press release statement.

Rothstein, in his statement, added: "The message presumes there once was an Arab Palestine, when in fact no such country ever existed. As two of our billboards point out, this region has been recognized as the Jewish homeland for over 3,000 years. Our billboards will show some of the documentation to prove this fact-- the Arch of Titus in Rome, as well as the Bible. Our billboards will focus on the real Israel--its vibrancy, creativity, and humanitarianism--and underscore that Israel is on the forefront, working alongside the U.S., of making the world a better place."

In the group's announcement, it noted that it has taken similar responses in other parts of the United States. They include responses in San Francisco and Berkeley, CA, and in Chicago.
