Holiday Shopping at Twilight

There was music in the air during the final night of late night shopping in the Village center.

Last night was the final evening of late night shopping in the Village Center. Sponsored by the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce and Wells Fargo, the evenings were designed to encourage local shopping and to provide shopping opportunities for those unable to shop during the daylight hours .

While only a relatively small crowd took advantage of free parking and extended shop hours, those who ventured out were able to stroll through the village on a balmy winter evening, sip champagne and hear wonderful music courtesy of the New Choral Society.

Zachy’s held its first holiday champagne tasting in several years, and several customers happily sampled various champagnes from the world over.  Two additional tastings are scheduled for Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 12-4 p.m.

About 15 members of the New Choral Society and John King, its artistic director, conductor and founder, greeted commuters with holiday songs and Christmas carols as they detrained. Further adding to the musicality of the evening were 10 players from Hoff and Hitchcock’s Flute Choir, who played renditions of holiday music in the lobby of the Harwood Building.

It may not have been a bustling night for shopping but, with wonderful music in the air, it certainly was the season and a reason to be jolly.
