Scarsdale: The Friends of Scarsdale Public Library Annual Book Sale

Description: The Friends of the Scarsdale Public Library is ending it's annual book sale, which began Sept. 6, on Sunday with a blowout sale. The Book Sale boasts more than 60,000 almost-new and out-of-print books, including bestsellers, classics, biographies, fiction, parenting, cooking, art and antiques, computers, humor, self-help, drama, religion, business and poetry.  All books are presorted into categories for the buyer’s convenience. There is also a large selection of books for children, as well as DVDs, CDs, books on tape, and sheet music.

Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow: 9-11 Ceremony

When:Sunday, September 15, 9 a.m.

Where: The Washington Street side of Patriot’s Park, north of the entrance to the park.  There is a 9-11 monument located near the brook on that side of the park.

Cost: Free 

Description: The Fire Departments of the Villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow will be conducting their annual 9-11 Ceremony this Sunday.  Fire Department personnel will be assembling in the park between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.  

White Pains: Freeman L. Palmer to Preach at the Church in the Highlands

When: Sunday, Sept.15, 10 a.m. 

Cost: Free

Description: Rev. Freeman L. Palmer, Associate Conference Minister of the New York Conference, will preach Sunday, 9/15, 10 AM, at The Church in the Highlands, 35 Bryant Ave., White Plains. Joining the Highlands Church, the Ridgeview Congregational Church will close its doors so members can attend this observance of New York Conference Sunday. In addition, delegations from Chatterton Hill and Scarsdale Congregational churches are expected to take part.

White Pains: Kickoff for the First Annual White Plains Wellness Week

Where: Court Street, between Martine Ave. & Main St.

When: Sunday, Sept.15, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Description: The White Plains Cares Coalition along with the White Plains Youth Bureau and the City of White Plains is proud to present the 1st Annual Wellness Week from Sunday, September 15 - Monday, September 23.  Wellness Week promotes "LIVING WELLNESS" by celebrating the Eight Dimensions of Wellness - emotional, intellectual, physical, financial, occupational, spiritual, environmental, and social wellness.  Wellness Week will start with a Kick-Off Event on Sunday, September 15 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Court Street (between Martine Ave. & Main St.) in the heart of downtown White Plains. The Kick-Off event is being sponsored by Crossfit Westchester, Crunch Fitness, and Sancia Health Care Inc. The event will feature interactive dance and fitness demonstrations, information tables from area wellness providers, music, and fun activities for kids and the whole family.
