The Westchester County Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for Seasonal Park Rangers to patrol county parks this summer.

Park Rangers are uniformed and work under the supervision of the county police to maintain and keep the county parks safe. Primary functions of the park rangers are to help park users, aid in searches for lost children, provide information on the rules of the parks and procedures, perform basic first aid, and make security checks of the buildings and facilities.

 

Park rangers are paid $14 hourly, however if you have worked as a park ranger for the county before salaries are higher.

 

Qualifications to become a park ranger are: you must be a high school graduate, must be at least 19 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Westchester County, and have a NYS driver’s license.

 

Candidates who meet these requirements and are selected must attend a two-week training program at the Westchester County Police Academy.
