Traffic Advisory: Saw Mill River Parkway Lane Closures Thursday

Drivers may want to add a little extra commuting time on June 28.

For commuters driving down the in Westchester Thursday–plan ahead.

Westchester County will be closing several lanes throughout the day on June 28, according to an advisory issued by the NY Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, various lanes will be closed between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lane closures will impact motorists in both directions between Exit 16 (Lawrence Street) and Exit 17 (Ashford Avenue,) according to the DOT.

"These closures are necessary for bridge maintenance activities," the DOT stated in the announcement. "Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes since delays are expected."

Drivers should use caution on the Saw Mill, especially in the work zones.

Some extra encouragement to slow down–avoiding a hefty ticket. The DOT is reminding folks that "fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone."

According to the DOT, "In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of the driver’s license."
