Westchester Police Academy Class Graduates

A graduation ceremony for 54 graduates of the Westchester County Police Academy took place Friday morning on the SUNY Purchase campus.

After completing a rigorous 20-week training program at the Westchester County Police Academy, graduates from the 134th basic recruiting class celebrated their graduation Friday morning on the SUNY Purchase campus.

The 54 graduates will join law enforcement agencies from throughout the region.

Graduates faced a challenging course load that included physical, mental and procedural training, which class spokesperson Maria Pacino of the Mt. Vernon Police Department said brought the recruits closer together. Pacino also thanked the men and women that worked with the group since training began in July.

"We were very lucky to have a group of men so dedicated, passionate and committed to what this profession is all about," said Pacino. "Even though we were just recruits, these men were there every step of the way with us."

Local officials including Commissioner George Longworth, commissioner of the Westchester County Police Department, Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino and Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore greeted the graduates on stage.
