On May Day, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 12 to 6 PM, residents and community groups from across Westchester County, will come together to celebrate and strengthen the voice and policies that benefit the 99%, and by extension all of society.*

The day’s events will be held at the Library Plaza (between the and the on Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd).

This event is part of a national day of action, Occupy May Day, which includes thousands of grassroots actions across the country.

The events come the week after 100,000 people across the country were trained in non-violent direct action in order to stand with the 99% and rebuild our Democracy.

From 12 p.m. -3 p.m., Occupy May Day, Westchester will include teach-ins at which people can learn about some of the most pressing issues affecting our country, including campaign finance reform, alternatives to big banks, immigration reform, anti-war efforts, taxes and more.

At 3:30 p.m. we will march through downtown White Plains (permit approved) to celebrate social justice organizing in Westchester.

There will also be street theater, music, children’s activities, refreshments and literature. The day will conclude with a rally at 4:30 p.m. organized by the Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body (Martin Luther King Blvd and Martine Ave).

There is no charge for any portion of the day’s events and we invite all to join us.

Not that I disagree with all the good causes but it is arrogant for any movement to assume they truly represent 99% of the population. It reminds me of the "cultural revolution" in China, Venezuela...or other countries where mob politics rule
