Scarsdale Outdoor Art Show Coming September 8-9

The Scarsdale Art Association is holding its annual show and sale.

Every year for the past 58 years, for one weekend in September, Chase Park has buzzed with artistic activity as the holds its Annual Outdoor Art Show and Sale. This year’s show takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9 from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Rain dates are September 29 and 30. Admission is free.

Over 40 artists will display original watercolors, oils, acrylics, graphic art, photography, pottery and sculpture. The subjects and styles cover a wide range – imaginative paintings, landscapes, cityscapes, still life, dancers, exotic scenes and fantasy. The artists will be present at the show and are available to answer questions about the inspiration of a particular painting or about their techniques and methods of working

“The advantage of this outdoor setting is that shoppers may meander through the exhibit, and can discuss a work of art directly with the artist,” says Gina Thorne, president of the SAA.  “It is an opportunity to shop for that unique gift, or for a special work of art to brighten up a room.”

The show is chaired by Miriam Schulman. A painting by prize-winning artist Nancy Abbe will be raffled off. Free raffle tickets are available at the show.

The Scarsdale Art Association is open to amateurs and “weekend artists” as well as professional artists. They come from many communities in Westchester.
