Westchester's Kate Mara Stars In New Film

"Ten Years" is a new film that traces the events around a high school reunion that features Kate Mara—who graduated from Fox Lane High School a decade ago—and stars Channing Tatum.

Though Bedford native Kate Mara didn't attend her own high school ten-year-reunion, she stars in a new film about one.

Ten Years is to be released Sept. 14 and is a new independent film featuring an ensemble cast including Channing Tatum, and Mara, who plays a "one-time wallflower" attending a reunion of her classmates a decade after graduation, according to The New York Daily News.

Attending her own reunion and trying to remember everyone's names gave her anxiety, she told the newspaper, so she asked her older brother Daniel to attend to help her research the topic.

Mara, 29, began her career on the Fox Lane stage, and after graduating a year early, she deferred acceptance into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts before pursuing acting full-time. She has since appeared in television shows like Entourage, Law & Order and 24 as well as major feature films such as Brokeback Mountain, We Are Marshall, and Iron Man 2.

Her sister Rooney Mara has enjoyed a successful film career as well, and in the Girl With a Dragon Tattoo. The Maras are also members of one of football's notable clans: both are great-granddaughters of the founder of the New York Giants, Timothy Mara and Art Rooney, founder of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As for the film, Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+, noting that it "suggests that real adulthood is measured not by what one does in life but by how present one is as a human being in the world today. In that regard, these alumni are nicely grown up."

Mara seemed to agree when she told the Daily News: “If 10 years ago I was told I’d be where I am now, I would’ve been pretty happy. I feel like I’m exactly where I should be.”

Looking forward to seeing this film. Heard Channing Tatum's wife also stars in this.
