Ben’s Kosher Deli Breaks Ground on New Scarsdale Location

The family owned restaurant and delicatessen is building a sixth New York location on Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale.

The owners of Ben’s Kosher Restaurant, Delicatessen and Caterers broke ground on a sixth location in New York, and seventh eatery overall, Thursday on Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale.

Ben’s, which has been a mainstay in the New York area for 40 years, expects to open the standalone restaurant early next year and will feature a full bar and a second-story catering venue.

The new 5,700-square-foot location at 718 Central Park Ave. will be one of the company’s largest and will join facilities in Manhattan, Queens, Long Island and Boca Raton, Fla.

“We really want our Scarsdale location to have a much broader appeal,” said Scott Singer, president and CSO of Ben’s, in a statement. “With this Ben’s, we’re looking to evolve the traditional delicatessen of yesteryear into a more modern offering for today’s busy consumers and families who want convenience, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.”

Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by public, religious and civic officials who welcomed the restaurant to the area.

“This new location has special meaning to me, as I grew up there,” Singer added. “We always had a few Kosher delis in the area, but one by one, they started to disappear. The demand for a Ben’s Restaurant from the Westchester consumers was overwhelming. We’re happy to be able to give the public what they’ve been craving.”
