MAG Tricotes, a new private luxury boutique on Christie Place in Scarsdale, is opening today.

This weekend, the invitation-only event will begin today, June 15,  at 10:00 a.m. The opening will continue Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The couture boutique is all about elegance, timeless style, luxurious fabrics, intricate detailing, and exclusively made by hand clothing and accessories. MAG Tricotes will provide a truly personalized shopping experience for each and every client, tailoring each garment to a client’s personality, taste, and lifestyle, so that she can look and feel MAGnificent.

MAG Tricotes is led and inspired by its creative director and owner Malvina Guretsky. A Westchester resident, Malvina left her “high-flying” Wall Street career last year to devote more time to her family and her lifelong passion for knitting.  The “retirement” did not last long, as within six months Malvina came up with the idea of turning her therapeutic hobby into a new business venture.

Malvina’s new journey began with travelling the world, selecting the finest fibers and yarns, hiring talented knitwear designers and craftswomen, and creating couture knitwear for women and babies. She had a clear vision – a vision of a small boutique that felt like home, where each garment was lovingly made by hand, where every piece reflected the skill of the designer and the artisan, where the fabric would be so soft, one just couldn’t help but want to touch it, where the cut was so classy and design so timeless, one never had to worry about trends, where the client actually had a say in the final product.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
