Lord & Taylor Opens New Westchester Store At Ridge Hill On Friday

Retailer latest to open at massive complex in Yonkers; weekend of events at store planned.

Lord & Taylor thinks Friday the 13th will be a lucky day for Westchester.

That's because the retailer, a division of Hudson’s Bay Company, is opening its
newest location, a new 80,000 square-foot store at Westchester’s Ridge Hill, a Forest City Enterprise property on Friday in Yonkers. This location will be Lord & Taylor’s 11th store in New York and the second full-line store to open this year.

“Lord & Taylor is very excited to debut a new, modern store concept at Westchester’s Ridge Hill,” said Bonnie Brooks, president, Hudson’s Bay Company. “We’re thrilled to grow our foot print in such an important market with Lord & Taylor’s well-edited assortment of approachable fashion. The Westchester market is very important to us, and we have high expectations for expansion.”

Brooks and Hudson's Bay Company governor and CEO Richard Baker are scheduled to attend the opening, along with Bruce Ratner, chairman & CEO of Forest City Ratner Companies.

Dr. Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester, said this commitment by a major national retailer is good news for the county.

"This reflects on the positive economics of Westchester," said Gordon, who also admits she's excited about the store's opening as a longtime Lord & Taylor customer. "This shows that Westchester has regional attraction, and that a major retailer has confidence in Westchester."

Gordon noted that the new store means more jobs for Westchester. Lord & Taylor says the new store has resulted in 116 new hires.

Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino said the Lord & Taylor expansion boosts the county's retail shopping reputation.

“Lord & Taylor and Westchester County share an incredibly rich history and reputation for excellence,” said Astorino. “The fact that Lord & Taylor selected a second Westchester site for the company’s first expansion in 10 years is proof-positive of the county’s leading position as a world-class shopping destination.”

Lord & Taylor says the new store features the company’s latest store design, a modern shopping experience that will mirror the Fifth Avenue flagship store’s recent renovation and will include a sleek, contemporary design. The store’s hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

With the opening, Lord & Taylor has Grand Opening weekend events, running from Friday through Sunday. Customers will enjoy cosmetic
makeovers by Chanel, NARS, Bobbi Brown, Shiseido and Bliss, styling sessions, fashion presentations, designer and celebrity personal appearances as well as refreshments and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Ridge Hill is a 1.3 million-square-foot development just off the New York State Thruway in Yonkers. It is a mixed residential and commercial complex with tenants that include Whole Foods Market, REI, National Amusements Inc.’s Cinema de Lux, Dick's Sporting Goods, LL Bean, Sephora, The Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, Desigual, Gap, Old Navy and WESTMED Medical Group.

I love Lord and Taylor. Why would I or anyone go to Ridge Hill and pay approximately $4 to park, when I can go to Eastchester West Nyack, or Stamford and park for free? It is the same store and same clothes. Naomi
