Indus American Bank Appoints Dr. Hemant Patel to Board of Directors

Iselin, NJ-The Indus American Bank recently appointed Dr. Hemant Patel, a prominent New York City physician and businessman, to its Board of Directors. In announcing the appointment, Executive Chairman & Founder Anil Bansal said ''Dr. Patel brings an exceptional combination of medical knowledge, business acumen and community commitment to the Indus American Bank." The bank, based in Iselin, New Jersey, serves the South Asian community in the Tri-state area. Among its many services is a loan program for growing medical practices. "Dr. Patel's experience in building a thriving medical practice and in educating and mentoring medical students will be invaluable as we work to improve and expand our programs for medical professionals." A well established and successful Board Certified Primary Care Physician and businessman in Harlem, Dr. Patel established his first private practice in 1987. His goal was to provide accessible and affordable, quality health care services for the residents of Harlem and the Bronx. He has continually expanded his practice and clinician recruitment efforts to meet the growing demands of these communities. At present he has seven office locations offering both Primary Care and a multitude of Specialty Care services all under one roof. He developed a strong affiliation with the acclaimed Mount Sinai Hospital, enabling his patients to access some of the best specialists in the country.

In addition to his private practice, he served as the Medical Director at Greater Harlem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for five years. Currently he is the Medical Director of Ambulatory Services for Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and has Faculty appointment with the institution. Additionally he serves as a Preceptor for Touro's fourth year medical students, New York College's second year medical students and Sophie Davis's senior physician assistant students, invested in educating the next generation of clinicians and sharing his knowledge.

On a personal level, Dr. Patel is a spiritual man. He has committed much of his time to managing a multitude of responsibilities within the BAPS Hindu organization. Locally he served as a Temple Administrator, then appointed NE Regional President and also served as a National Board Member of BAPS, Inc. He supports the organization's belief that it is of great importance to contribute to society on moral, spiritual, cultural, educational, environmental and social levels of life, globally. He is also an active member of FIA, The Federation of Indian Americans and has served on their board of committees.

Dr. Patel resides in Scarsdale, NY with his wife and has two children, both pursuing their studies in the field of Medicine.
