The New New; Holidays With Or Without The Kids

How to handle holidays with & without the kids.

How do I handle my first Thanksgiving alone with my children (and no husband/father)?

The first holiday is the hardest for you and the kids. And figuring out how to make the holiday meaningful and fun is even harder. Do you want to start a new  way to celebrate the holiday specific to your new family structure? Is there a dish traditional to your family that your former husband always hated? Did your family make a prayer, sing a song or play a game that your husband didn’t want included.? Start a new tradition!

My wife has the kids. What do I do?

Holiday time without the kids can be very difficult, especially if you have no extended family in the area. The best solution is to make a plan. Whether you go away for the weekend, volunteer in a soup kitchen, attach yourself to another family’s celebration, or plan dinner and a movie with others in the same boat, be proactive in filling the time.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
