Community Takes To Twitter And Facebook To Support Family Of Missing White Plains Teen, Scarsdale Student

Tyler Madoff, a student at Scarsdale High School, is receiving social media support from friends and strangers.

Since word of missing Scarsdale High School student and the community is taking to social media to show their support for the family.

Fifteen-year-old Madoff, whom attends Scarsdale High School, was swept out to sea in Honolulu on July 4.

On Twitter, the social media community has started the hashtag #PrayForTyler. Tweets from friends and strangers are showing their sadness, support and sympathy for the family. Tweets are calling for prayers, support and strength for Tyler, his friends and family members.

‏@AIRMAX703 wrote: "I can't stop thinking about a kid I hardly know. Can't imagine what his family is going through #PrayForTyler"

‏@Triz50 wrote: "Just cried with my mom watching the news #PrayForTyler#ComeHome"

And @biancasophia48 tweeted: "#PrayForTyler still in complete shock. Still can't believe this happened."

On Madoff's Facebook Page, friends have been posting comments on his wall, including, "Come home," and "I'm praying for you."

Since Wednesday, the U.S. Coast Guard and Hawaii County Fire Department crews, along with good Samaritans with boats, had been searching for Madoff. The Coast Guard has since suspended the search.
