The people directly behind us have power and our traffic light on our power line is on central avenue and is still out. Obviously public safety is not a concern and as long as we can fend for ourselves and we aren't looting it isn't that bi of a deal. Con Edison should have Westchester removed from its market.
O&R really failed when they promised to do better after the horrible storm in October 2011.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the residents of Foggintown Road, Drovers Lane, Acorn Road and the surrounding area, approximately 164 homes, are still without power. The local power company, New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) had informed us we would be up and running by 11:30 p.m. tonight. However, due to the scheduling of our local football playoff game, the repairs on our power lines have been postponed until approximately 11:00 p.m. Sunday so that the roads could be opened to access the football field at Brewster High School today. This means 164 families will again be cold; tonight’s temperature plummeting down to 35 degrees. NYSEG was instructed by the Brewster school district to reopen these roads for today, delaying repairs. In comparison, the NYC Marathon has been cancelled for the first time in 40 years out of compassion for the people affected by the hurricane. But for some unknown reason, the Brewster Bears must go on while we stay in the dark. Most of us have always been supporters of the local sports teams, however, we are appalled by this decision. When we as residents tried to contact Senator Greg Ball’s office, we were told he had nothing to do with it nor would he do anything about it, showing no compassion or concern for constituents.
