Rain, Snow, Sleet in Westchester

Westchester is in for some wintry weather Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for rain, snow and sleet after 1 p.m. The high should be near 38 degrees, and it will be breezy with an east wind 10 to 20 mph, with gust as high as 37 mph.

The weather service said there is a 100 percent chance of precipitation, with a daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch.

Rain will continue Wednesday night, and it could be heavy at times. The temperature will fall to around 35 degrees. It will continue to be windy. Winds will be from the east at 21 to 30 mph. Gusts could get as high as 55 mph. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain is possible.

Thursday's forecast calls for rain before noon. The temperature will rise to near 46, though winds will stay strong at 10 to 18 mph from the northeast, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Mostly cloudy skies will stay around during early Thursday evening, after which there will be gradual clearing with a low around 30 and northwest winds from 9 to 13 mph.
