Scarsdale: Wind, Wintry Storm Coming Wednesday

Most residents are still without power and still reeling from last Monday's hurricane, but unfortunately, some nasty weather is on the way for Westchester.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night and a coastal flood watch for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

In Scarsdale, residents should prepare for a chance of snow and/or rain before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, with a high of 42 degrees, according to the NWS. Wind gusts could reach 55 mph but there will be "little to no snow accumulation," the NWS states.

Wednesday night, temps will drop to 34 degrees in Scarsdale, with a chance of rain before 9:00 p.m., then snow and rain, according to the NWS. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph.

On Thursday, there will be snow and rain, turning to all rain after 9:00 a.m., according to the NWS. The high will reach 43 degrees in Scarsdale.

The National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook states that "winds of this magnitude will be capable of producing downed trees and power lines as well as property damage."

For residents without power, plan ahead to get to a warm, safe location to sleep and warm up Wednesday and Thursday. There is an emergency shelter set up, offering folks a place to sleep and warm up. Head to the Albert Leonard Middle School, 25 Gerard Lane, in New Rochelle. There are cots for sleeping. Contact the American Red Cross for more information at 914-682-2299.
