An Introduction to Drama Therapy

Join Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) for a special Westchester-based full-day training, "An Introduction to Drama Therapy."  In collaboration with the Sanctuary Institute at Andrus Children's Center!


This one-day training will introduce you to the principles of drama therapy. Throughout the day, you will examine ways in which theatre can be used to transform lives.


Join us and explore the basic tenets of the CANY model of drama therapy through theory and group activities.

Participants will:



  • Experience the drama therapy process in action

  • Gain practical skills in how to safely explore trauma and challenging life experiences through metaphor and play

  • Participate in drama therapy interventions aimed at improving client relatedness, self-esteem, emotional expression & self-regulation, spontaneity and the capacity to play a diverse range of life roles
