Lecture, book-signing and question/answer session with New York Times reporter John Schwartz, author of Oddly Normal, One Family’s Struggle To Help Their Teenage Son Come To Terms With His Sexuality (Gotham Books). Author recounts the Schwartz family’s bumpy ride, shared in the hopes that it will help other parents of gay kids — and parents of any kid who is different, who is mistreated by others, or who just may not accept himself — to know that they can find their own way to help their child handle the pain that comes from not fitting in.

If this is happening in a community like Scarsdale, then as a taxpayer I am irritated. Where are allRead More the taxes going if teachers are paying for their own classroom supplies? There has to be some degree of accountability regarding our tax dollars. We are the highest-taxed county in the nation and we can't afford notebooks and post-it notes? As a community member, I am not going to "lend a hand." I already do that with my tax dollars.
