The Scarsdale Forum Inc. cordially invites the public to its General Membership meeting on Thursday, January 31st in the Scott Room of the Scarsdale Library at 8 p.m. A reception honoring the chairs of the Forum's Committees will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Following the business portion of the membership meeting, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins will present the “Update from the State Legislature".
Senator Stewart-Cousins is a strong advocate for human rights, quality education, accessible and affordable health care and making government more efficient, transparent and accountable to all citizens. She has served as NYS Senator since 2006 and was elected by her colleagues as the Democratic Conference Leader, becoming the first woman to lead a Legislative Conference in New York State history. She holds an MA in Public Administration.
An Education Committee report on "Teacher Contract Negotiations" will be proposed for approval by Co-Chairs Mary Beth Evans and Carol Stix.
A Municipal Services Committee report on "The Village of Scarsdale's Engineering and Building Departments and the Coordinating Office" will be proposed for approval by Co-Chair Linda Blair.
A question and answer period will follow each presentation.
The Scarsdale Forum is a 108 year old civic organization dedicated to improving life in Scarsdale. The Forum studies issues before local, regional and state governing bodies and provides input and recommendations via public reports and other public statements.
