Flood the Bronx River Parkway: a 350.org Draw the Line Event
Come flood the Bronx River Parkway with awareness of climate change, the impact of tar sands and other fossil fuels, and ways ordinary suburbanites like us can make a difference. This action is part of 350.org's "Draw the Line" campaign, where groups all over the country are drawing lines to protest Keystone XL and tar sands. The ways tar sands are extracted, transported, and used make them the dirtiest form of oil there is. You can watch a 2-minute video about tar sands here: http://youtu.be/DCq015rc_lk.
We'll form a human line along the parkway, just south of the Popham Road bridge, making ourselves visible by wearing bright red shirts with letters that spell out our message: NO TAR SANDS, NO KEYSTONE XL. We'll also bring information for passersby on the tar sands-climate change connection.
