Community Corner

Space Odyssey 3000

Scarce gravity. Scorching heat. Unimaginable Cold. No oxygen.
A one day charrette for Ages 8 – 14: we’ll pair younger kids with older ones, with everyone working in teams.
Yes, it's the ArchforKids Space Odyssey charette at Curious-on-Hudson. Our teams will have three hours to solve some of the biggest challenges a planner might face but fear not, their task will be fueled by lots of great ideas, terrific guidance, and pizza!
The challenge will be to conceive and design a space community on a planet with scorching heat, unimaginable cold, no oxygen, or little gravity. Teams will  build models of their chosen community for some Earthlings that have decided to inhabit this frontier, constructing a brand new city that will provide jobs,
recreation, homes, schools, and more.

A charrette is a collaborative session in which a group of designers drafts a solution to a design problem.

Teams will  have 3 hours from beginning to end to do all of that, guided by ArchForKids design facilitators. At the end, each team  will present it's work to families and friends, and celebrate with a pizza party.
