Interfaith Council Fall Luncheon and Program to highlight Hydrofracking and what we can do

Did you know that this summer hydrofracking came to New York State?  In other states this gas extraction technology has shown the capacity to change what, at first, seemed to be a potentially beneficial enterprise into a tragedy --  ruining water supplies and having devastating effects on the local environments.

So, what happened to the Clean Water Act?   How do we educate ourselves to be good stewards of our community and, most important, what and who can help us?

On Tuesday, October 18 at the Scarsdale Community Baptist Church the public is invited to a luncheon program addressing these concerns, with speakers Kate Hudson of Riverkeeper and Rick Ufford-Chase of Stony Point Conference Center.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with an optional Sanctuary Talk, followed by a luncheon and the program at 12:00 noon.  Scarsdale Community Baptist Church is at the intersection of Authenreith and Popham Roads, just west of the train station and village shops.  Tickets are $15.00 and can be reserved by phone:  (914) 722-4836 or email:  sweisfeld@juno.com.

The Scarsdale-Hartsdale Interfaith Women’s Council, the oldest interfaith organization in the County, now in its 81st year, is sponsoring this event which will focus on how different groups can work together to protect our local environment, especially our water resources.
